Project description
- leading an engineering department that develops and operates a digital platform supporting factoring and other financial services for small and medium-sized businesses in logistics
- developing the technological environment of a fintech company operating in Central European markets with the aim of supporting further platform growth and customer services
- leading an approximately 15-member engineering department and close cooperation with the CTPO and Chief Architect on technical strategy and its implementation
- taking over line management and daily leadership of engineering teams, including 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, and career development
- establishing clearer ownership, lead roles, and organizational structure with the aim of reducing dependence on individuals and developing future technical leads and managers
- establishing and enforcing engineering standards, code quality, delivery practices, and common ways of working across the department
- maintaining hands-on technical credibility, including the ability to delve into architecture and code details, review key decisions, and unblock teams
- developing the use of AI in the engineering process from coding assistants towards agentic workflows as part of the standard delivery process
- cooperating with other parts of the company on priorities, capacities, product and platform changes, and leading the technical hiring process together with HR
- cooperation in a mode of at least 3 to 4 days onsite in Prague per week, the remaining part remote
Project requirements
- required experience and knowledge:
- at least 10 years of experience in technology roles
- at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role in a European-scale and remote-collaboration environment
- proven experience with reorganization, structure, and leadership of complex engineering organizations including infrastructure, architecture, and full-stack delivery teams
- experience in scaling engineering teams and technology platforms
- hands-on experience with software development and delivery, not just managerial leadership
- university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- native or fluent Czech or Slovak in spoken and written form
- professional knowledge of English
- proven experience in developing engineering managers and reducing the organization's dependence on key individuals
- daily practical use of AI-assisted development and understanding its limitations and impact on code quality
- deep knowledge of software development, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity
- strong knowledge of the product development lifecycle and development methodologies
- ability to align technological strategy with business goals and communicate technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
- experience in managing multiple parallel initiatives and coordinating priorities and capacities
- other relevant experience:
- experience in leading the technical hiring process and setting the quality bar for engineering roles
- experience in mentoring, code reviews, and setting technical standards across the engineering organization
- ability to work in an environment using PHP 8, Symfony 7, Doctrine ORM, Apache Kafka, MySQL on AWS RDS, Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Python
- advantageous:
- experience in a fintech environment
