Project description
- Architectural review of the client's existing Databricks platform from the financial sector and proposal of measures to increase its maturity
- Review of the target Databricks architecture on AWS and assessment of readiness for future cloud migrations
- Consulting support for migrating Oracle and SAS workloads to Databricks
- Design and consultation of lakehouse / data warehouse architecture and support for DWH teams in upcoming BI PoCs
- Support for Databricks migrations between hyperscalers (Azure/AWS)
- Hands-on mentoring and knowledge transfer for the existing architect to increase internal Databricks competencies
- The role is primarily a senior architectural and advisory position with practical technical overlap
- Tech stack / environment: Databricks, AWS, Azure Databricks, Oracle, SAS, Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Cloud Migration, BI, CRM/CDP
- Collaboration on a full-time basis in a hybrid mode REMOTE + ONSITE at least 1 day per week (Vienna and/or Bratislava), or based on further agreement with the client
- Final remuneration depends on the candidate's experience and the selection process
Project requirements
- Senior to Principal/Lead experience with Databricks architecture in an enterprise environment
- Very good knowledge of lakehouse and enterprise Data Warehouse architecture
- Practical experience with AWS and Databricks on AWS
- Experience with:
- Designing/reviewing Databricks platform, platform maturity, and cloud migration readiness
- Migrating or modernizing Oracle DWH/workloads to Databricks
- Cloud / hyperscaler migrations, ideally Azure ↔ AWS
- Projects from financial services / banking or similar regulated enterprise environments
- Ability to act as a Senior Advisor, communicate with DWH and architectural teams, and provide hands-on knowledge transfer
- Active knowledge of English, spoken and written (min. B2-C1)
- Advantageous:
- Experience with:
- Migrating SAS workloads to Databricks
- Azure Databricks
- BI PoC, CRM/CDP, or customer data platforms
- Relevant Databricks / AWS certifications
- Knowledge of German language
- Experience with:
- Excellent communication and consulting skills
- Ability to communicate and defend architectural decisions
- Independence and proactivity
- Ability to mentor and transfer know-how
