support for a large-scale migration of the virtualization environment from VMware vSphere to Proxmox VE across multiple European locations
installation and configuration of Proxmox VE on new HW, building and expanding clusters including HA, networking, storage, and backup integration
analysis of existing VMs and their migration from VMware ESXi/vCenter to Proxmox VE, including virtual HW adjustments and VirtIO drivers
integration of enterprise storage environments via Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS, including capacity, functional, and performance tests
Linux administration, troubleshooting, and support during testing and cutover activities throughout the migration
documentation of implemented changes and migrations and subsequent handover of the solution to the IT Operations team
collaboration possible in an almost 100% remote mode (willingness to travel occasionally within Europe, approx. 1x per month with reimbursement of travel expenses)

Project requirements

min. 3 years of practical experience with VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter, and Proxmox VE
experience with:
- migrations to Proxmox VE
- Linux KVM and virtual server migration
- administration of Linux environments (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL...)
- enterprise storage technologies (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS)
- networking and routing fundamentals (VLAN, Bonding/LACP, TCP/IP)
advantageous experience with:
- distributed storage and backups (Proxmox Backup Server, ZFS, Ceph, NetApp, HPE Alletra, Dell Storage, Veeam...)
- automation (Ansible)
- monitoring (Zabbix)
English language at a communicative level (spoken and written)

ability to independently realize assigned work packages
systematically troubleshoot and thoroughly document implemented changes
